False allegations are a massive problem not just in academia but across society. One family friend who was the administrative assistant at a small community college for their Title IX office has related that over 95% of the allegations brought are demonstrably false but are incentivized by the demand to "believe" all "women"...even when the accuser is male or accusations between women. The refusal to hold accusers accountable, even in cases where their accusations are disproven, removes any incentive for women to NOT use this mechanism for career advancement or personal gain/revenge. The National Science Foundation even has a policy where a researcher with a grant who is accused of sexual harassment can be removed from his own project and replaced by someone else BEFORE any adjudication has taken place. Since the replacement must know something of the project to continue the work, the results it transfer of intellectual property, funding and opportunity literally from the men whose work justified the funding to the women in the lab who are making the accusations! I have seen women's advocates even state as easily as acknowledging the weather that it is OK if a woman accuses the wrong person and the wrong person is punished as long as the woman feels better and is made "whole" as she is no doubt projecting from some past trauma by another evil man. (So...all men can be punished for the alleged crimes of another man. Imagine if men made a habit of doing this to women!)
So...how should individuals and society respond? First, we need to stress that the right to due process and presumption of innocence are paramount. These principles go back thousands of years and have worked even in terrible war crimes like the Nuremberg trials. Women who cannot or will not act within those principles do not deserve the protection of the laws or equal rights and it's time to we hold politicians to it. Second, when one is accused, it is necessary to go full scorched Earth on the accuser and all who aid and abet her accusations. That means releasing their names, addresses etc. to the wider public as soon as the accused is publicly named. Make them pay the same repetitional price they extract on the accused. Include all their history, which usually includes other false accusations and conduct indicating that the accusation is designed to cover for the woman's own self directed and voluntarily chosen conduct. Third, all people of good conscience should treat accusations with tremendous skepticism and take demands for "believe all women" as an admission that the claim cannot stand independent scrutiny.
