Heartening, good to hear. A lot of it seems to me to be common sense—stability and direction matter at all phases of life, and fatherhood occurs outside biology, as we all know. The Germans used to call a doctoral dissertation a “doctor father,” for example. He was somebody to help you find the path and stay on it, an authority, a guide, someone with the power of yes or no.
