He talks about Indian youth before social media were meeting in cafes and libraries but they had to sneak and hide that from their parents since there was no dating culture and dating was shamed/forbidden and again, marriages were arranged. It is still like this for the majority of Indians in India. Sure, now you might be on dating apps but your parents are still going to arrange your marriage. Maybe this guy is a diasporic Indian who didn't have luck dating or "getting laid" in "the west". Indian men don't need dating apps and they have no business "dating" since their parents will arrange their marriage according to caste, religion, region, socio-economic status, etc. And their parents certainly are not going to arrange them with a westerner OR filipina.
