Many years ago, when working at Vancouver School of Theology, I met a student who described himself first as "transvestite" and then as "transsexual." This friend was on his third marriage, which was already in big trouble. But this time, he said, he was in therapy. At around that time, his wife left him. A few months later, though, I lost touch with him (after quitting my job and moving back to Montreal)--until I got a disturbing letter from him. In it, he told me enthusiastically about his plan to have a "sex-change" operation in Montreal. I mention this here, because he had made this decision on the explicit advice of his "feminist psychiatrist." I found that shocking and asked him to reconsider such a drastic solution to his problems. Moreover, I couldn't help asking him even then (before I began to reconsider my own support for feminism) if the psychiatrist "might" have relied on her ideology in advising him. I'll never know how this story continued, or even if it continued at all, because he never contacted me again.
Very sad .. they had an agenda then as part of the destroy masculinity in the name of "egalitarianism " that has only esculated to our children.
The feminists at the very top have a very evil plan for power, control and money and use well meaning, however niave feminists at the lower level who think they are helping the oppressed to be treated "equally" all while they are oppressing other groups for feminism to rise at the expensive of the average person in society. So sad . We must stop this NOW
Gynocentrism, it runs silent & it runs deep. You don't see it until you have been Red Pilled, then you can't un see it. What a fabulous quote Tom. So true. Annecdotely I know of so many marriages that have been scarred by gynocentrism. This was a great Sicko Therapy episode. It should be in the syllabus of every Psychology course.
And this bit got me thinking about if they would treat men feeling this way with the egalitarian values they claim ??
"Feminist therapists aim to empower those who feel silenced or oppressed by honoring and elevating their voices.
In practice, this means identifying skills and strengths that will help clients recognize and embrace their own power. This is accomplished by reframing the client’s problems in the context of societal views, rather than as a result their own personal behaviors. A core belief of feminist therapy is that therapist and client should have an egalitarian relationship. A feminist therapist does not set out to instruct or dictate change in clients, but to consider them to be the experts on their own experience and to work with them to explore their challenges and their roots. The therapist is less likely to make a diagnosis than to work with a client to consider what social factors may be behind their symptoms.
I'm comfortable talking about Shrink4Men and Tom's book "Swallowed by a snake". I feel anxious about talking about any other resources.
Thank you Björn.
You guys are simply amazing, you give me so much hope in the face of adversity. I can’t stop thinking to myself “thank GOD for these three”.
Not to speak of your courage.
The word “thank you” has ceased to sufficiently encapsulate my gratitude for your work a looooooooong time ago!
