Given the increasing data and insight regarding hormonal changes around pregnancy in both men and women, one has to wonder what is going wrong with women who are so hostile to unborn children that they will "scream" their abortions. Has anyone studied the hormonal issues within such women?
If the testosterone level goes down, then so would a man's libido. This would make him less likely to look around for other women and thus stabilize the family unit.
While I've known about some of these hormonal changes in fathers who live with their pregnant wives, and even mentioned these changes in some of my published work, I learned much more recently. I read *Father Time: A Natural History of Men and Babies* by Sarah Blaffer Hrdy. This is an important work not only because Hrdy is a well-respected researcher and writer but because it represents a pivot from some of her earlier work that focused only on the evolutionary and biological aspects of *maternal* behavior and failed to appreciate the changes in fathers who were living with the mother of their child and the child.
